A great blog & a fine compilation (although I have most of the songs--I agree they're all good ones). I was curious where you got the 4th photo down (was it taken in the Philly area, mid 80s?) since I think I recognize a couple of those people.

max - thanks for the compliment. Sorry i didn't have your blog on my blogroll... i'll add it right away.

As for the pix, I'll admit I stole them from a number of sources. The Philly punk one I got from a flickr users account:
eagleapex
... he lists it as "Found Punk" pics from an album he found in the street, so I bet he'd appreciate info on who and what might be in the photos. The band appears to be Circle of Shit.

If your into Power-Pop let me know what some of you fav's are that I didn't (but should have) included in this comp. I'd love to discover more bands!!!

If you're looking to sample some different power pop this site (http://punkmodpop.free.fr/index.htm) is great--check the "Sounds" section. Also a good blog of rarer PP here: http://powerpoplovers.blogspot.com/
Any of the bands on the Rhino comps or the Yellow Pills collections are worth checking out. I think my favorite PP band is the Records but there are a lot of bands that had at least one great song.

What is with the bong shit????
Like the comp, digging the Beat, The Nerves, and The Only Ones; the best in reference to your question. thanks for the gems!

dear Mr. anonymous,

i'll delete the "bong shit" post as soon as i can.

As for my question, I wanted to know what Fav's people had that i didn't cover here. I don't need to discover the music i already have, dumbass! Ha, but thanks for the compliment anyways.

My question should have been phrased "what are you OTHER powerpop fav's outthere." Always looking for new suggestions....

Nice selection. Always nice to see anthologies with some songs you know and like, because that means the ones you don't know are likely to be good ones.

A few suggestions for things to look for: Protex, Holly & the Italians, Syl Sylvain & the Teardrops.

Nice to see my old pals the Reducers there. I do have a 7" of "Out of Step/No Ambition," but it's strictly NFS.

The Reducers, by the way, are still going strong after THIRTY years of the same four guys playing together. Their first cd, "Redux", has almost everything fromn their first three albums, and can be purchased from

www.thereducers.com/

The other CDs are Highly Recommended, too.

Here's round two of my powerpop compilation. sportsbook I had this completed weeks ago, but I couldn't find any cool pictures to go along with it. So instead you get lable scans and detailed information about each release. BORING! I know you don't give a fuck because your just a freeloading internet troll who was looking for porn and stumbpled on my blog cuz of the walking booty .gif in the corner there. Well your going to learn something anyways. bet nfl Added bonus! I'm tired and don't feel like finishing this blog post, so I've dropped the link allready and will fill in the rest of the info later. Hows that for Although punk rock was initially said to be one-dimensional and devoid of instrumental technique, many bands proved to be adept at both playing their instruments and writing songs (X, the Minutemen, the Police, sportsbook the Dead Kennedys, etc.). As evidenced on the live release Germicide: Live at the Whiskey 1977, California's the Germs were not one such band. This lo-fi live set shows that the group barely knew how to play their instruments, play in time, keep a steady tempo, or truly function as a live band. But due to their in your face attitude and confrontational live performances, the Germs became one of the most influential punk bands ever Nirvana, http://www.enterbet.com Foo Fighters, Jane's Addiction, and the Offspring have all admitted their admiration. Even though Iggy Pop had laid the groundwork for such punk shockers as Germs singer Darby Crash years before, audiences often had hostile reactions toward the band.

The Green Fuz were an American garage rock band in the late 1960s known for their one single, "Green Fuz", which has become a classic of the genre and was covered by The Cramps. On the single, the band was identified as Randy Alvey & Green Fuz.sportsbook
The group was formed in Bridgeport, Texas. The members were Randy Alvey (vocals), Mike Pearce (drums), Jimmy Mercer (rhythm guitar), Les Dale (lead guitar), and R.E. (Buck) Houchins (bass). Alvey and Pearce formed their first group, the Psychedelic Reactions, in 1967; and after some personnel changes they became The Green Fuz – named after Dale's green fuzz box. Alvey, Pearce and Houchins were later involved in another group, Natchez.
The Green Fuz played at dances and clubs, and gained enough local popularity to persuade the co-owner of Wash-Tex Records, Shorty Hendrix, to record their self-written theme song. The recording took place in a deserted roadside cafe, chosen for its acoustics, and was issued locally in 1969. It was not a success, largely because the primitive recording techniques led to a muffled sound, which has subsequently contributed to its cult appeal.march madness
The record resurfaced on a prominent garage rock compilation album, Pebbles, Volume 2 in the late 1970s and has since appeared on many similar compilation albums. One of those albums, Acid Dreams Epitaph is subtitled 75 Minutes of Green Fuz. The band gained additional fans when "Green Fuz" was covered by The Cramps on their 1981 album Psychedelic Jungle.
The roots music festival Ponderosa Stomp, of New Orleans, featured the Green Fuz in 2008, after the festival's founder, Dr. Ira Padnos found Green Fuz lead guitarist Les Dale in Virginia Beach, VA, where he had retired after two decades in the U. S. Navy.
In 2009, the song "Green Fuz" was included by Evan Dando's The Lemonheads on their well-received covers album, Varshons.www.canadacasino.com This version has a much slower tempo than the original version or that of the Cramps, which each had the same timing (2:05).

The first 7 songs on this comp are incredible and eye opening for me. It picks up again at 17 and then the haunting 18 leaves you speechless.

Thank you so much! but I still need more! Teenage Suicide vol 2 is lame compared to this one.

Thanks so much you rock!
